Academic History

I experienced many struggles in my primary education experience. I absolutely dreaded school due to my academic challenges. I was a straight-C student and was so glad to graduate high school. However, my mother always instilled the expectation that I would go directly to college to obtain a degree.

My college experience: Working my way through college, I spent long hours on the road, first driving to Houston Community College for general education coursework (30 minutes one way with no traffic). Then, I transitioned to the University of Houston Clear Lake to complete my undergraduate degree (45 minutes one way with no traffic). When I was old enough, I rushed to live in the big city. I spent most of my college years living in Houston, Texas.

I completed my undergraduate degree in Psychology and Sociology in December 2005, with commencement at the giant and intimidating NRG Stadium (hulking the historic Astrodome). Much of my later undergraduate work was in transpersonal psychology and constitutional sociology because I found two influential professors from whom I loved learning. Dr. Tulsi Sural, transpersonal psychology. Dr. Dula Espinosa, constitutional sociology.

While I was finishing my undergraduate degree, my mother also attended the same school, working on her Master in Healthcare Administration/Master in Business Administration degree. My mom has always been my most significant source of inspiration. She is brilliant and makes learning look easy. She worked multiple jobs while attending school and spent most of my youth as a single parent.
