  • 01/27/2021 Creating a Flipped Advising Approach Online web event
    • Flipped Advising is an advising approach that seeks to help students become better prepared for the advising session, and by doing so enhance the quality and effectiveness of the advising session. By using instructional design techniques developed and used by proponents of the Flipped Classroom efforts, the Flipped Advising approach seeks to have students engage in activities that introduce critical advising topics to students, prior to meeting with their advisor, so higher quality advisor and advisee interactions can occur during the advising session. The Flipped Advising approach capitalizes on using tools found in learning technologies such as learning management systems (LMS) and e-Portfolios. These learning technologies are used to organize an advising curriculum, with specific learning outcomes, associated with learning activities that engage students in a pedagogue of critical thinking. In short, the Flipped Advising approach seeks to operationalize the NACADA Concept of Advising.
