EdTech Publication

This course is one that I heard rumors about from my very first semester in the ADL program. I knew a class required publication and a media project; I’d never done those things before. I was in a panic about how I would put all of it together. One of my classmates in a prior cohort said that Dr. Still advised her to “just land the plane,” which has stuck with me. These publication requirements can be pretty brief, depending on where you plan to submit, so I can see how getting right to the point is valuable if you want to connect with your readers. I have focused on my experience with various digital tools that can flip the relationship so advisors and students leave appointments feeling valuable and moving forward in their goals. I hope my innovation idea resonates with other advisors and creates a movement that can revolutionize advising.

Publication Outline

Beginning the publication journey, I evaluated various potential places for publication submission. I assessed the objective of each possible publication guideline to determine if what I had to say fit the publication goals. The outline process helped me identify my audience.

Publication Rough Draft

The publication rough draft required refining the writing goal and further narrowing the potential submission opportunities. This aspect of the course allows peer review to help clarify my writing and message.

Media Project

It is one thing to publish an article about how helpful digital tools can be to our learning environments. Still, it’s another to create a pitch that will encourage others to want to read the article.

Contributions to Learning

We reflect on our learning experience and how we contributed to that learning process each semester. We identify those with whom we collaborated and how we supported other learners throughout the session. These contributions to learning present an opportunity to reflect and document our learning journey together.
