Welcome to Ed Tech!

Ed Tech is an abbreviation for the Masters in Education Educational Technology Leadership program. The Ed Tech program is completed by taking one course each five-week session for the first five courses. The program shifts toward the second half to completing two courses simultaneously in eight-week sessions for four courses. There is also one full-semester course EDLD 5398 Internship for Principals, which is only offered in the Spring and Fall semesters. Whether a student takes EDLD 5398 in the Spring or Fall is dependent on when they begin the program.

I am the professional staff advisor for the Ed Tech program within the University’s enrollment office. I handle Mandatory Advising Holds, Registration, and assist students with degree plan completion related questions. Students also have a program coordinator who assists with curricular inquiries, program specifics requirements, and other related certification questions.

I enroll students each semester according to the Ed Tech course schedule/course rotation.

The course rotation can be difficult to interpret so I will do my best to explain how to use this tool. On the course rotation locate the starting date from the college acceptance email and match it to the left most column.

Ed Tech students complete the first course EDLD 5311 Fundamentals of Leadership in their first five-week session.

Moving over one column and down one row to the “five-week rotation” column, where students complete each of the courses listed in this column by taking one each in five-week sessions.

Depending upon the program’s start date, students complete the “full semester” EDLD 5398 course in either Spring or Fall, along with five-week or eight-week courses. There will be 160 hours of field experience with the Internship course and 100 hours of additional specified activities that begin at the end of the first course in the program, for a total of 260 hours of fieldwork.

It is important to note that the program shifts from completing one class in five-week sessions to taking two classes simultaneously in eight-week sessions. This shift is illustrated on the course rotation by shifting over to the “eight-week rotation” column. When this shift occurs, the Ed Tech program shifts from leadership to technology content. All students should review the Ed Tech Tips section of Dr. Harapnuik’s portfolio to familiarize themselves with the ADL program courses to prepare for their Leadership project.

If a student decides that taking two classes per eight-week session is too much, they can contact me in the enrollment office to request a modified path to program completion prior to the first-class day of the simultaneous enrollment semester(s).

The Educational Leadership Department and University provide course descriptions and past syllabi for review.
