Support Structure

Welcome! I would like to explain the structure of support you have as you begin one of the academic programs for which I advise.

As students go through the University application process, they will likely be assisted by an enrollment specialist. These individuals will assist with questions about the full onboarding process, they may provide information about financial aid or program related information. Please do not expect your enrollment specialist to coordinate program start date changes, drop or withdrawal requests, or degree progress updates/projections. These outstanding recruitment partners from the field do not always have the most up to date information on your academic records. These specialists may call, text, and/or email you throughout the application process as well as following up to provide support throughout your program.

If you’ve applied and aren’t sure what to do next, I am here to help.

Throughout the application and admissions process, students may interact with representatives from the University Admissions team and the College of Education and Human Development’s departmental admissions team as they turn in admissions artifacts such a transcripts, service records, departmental applications, and/or references, as requested and applicable. These helpful members of the university will assist you with requests like changing your start date, but drop and withdrawal requests should be made through your professional staff advisor within the enrollment office.

Upon admission, students are assigned a professional staff advisor, like me, based on their program of study upon departmental acceptance. I will handle registration and drop related requests on behalf of my assigned students. Students in our online graduate Education programs do not register or drop themselves from classes, that is one of the services I provide.

In addition to a professional staff advisor, some programs utilize faculty advisors and/or program coordinators within their specific department. These will be your program experts. These professionals hold credentials in the areas of expertise you are seeking. They can answer curricular inquiries and guide students on their progress in their declared program.

There are a number of staff members to support a student throughout their academic experience. I consider it a privilege to serve you in your academic journey. I will always do my best to connect you to sources of departmental information and campus policies as needed. When I am unable to assist you, I will connect you to those who can.
