Financial Aid and Veteran’s Benefits

Academic advisors are not trained by the scholarship and financial aid office. However, since we are on the front lines we often pointing students to resources and information so that they can make informed decisions.

Students must complete an updated application for financial aid for each academic year they intended to utilize benefits. The academic year is Fall-Spring and the application for the following year is made available in October of the preceding year.

My personal advice after working with both undergraduate and graduate students since 2013, is that you work to save $1,000-1,500 for any semester of unexpected expenses. In my years of working with university students, it is heart breaking to hear from a student nearing the completion of their program in a situation of an unexpected out of pocket expense.
