Common Problems

If you have any registration errors on your registration date, please try not to panic. Please take a deep breath, get out a pen and paper, and carefully review the following step-by-step guide. Take an active role in helping resolve the registration issue you face..

Common errors

  1. Time Conflict: Two (or more) of your planned classes are being offered at the same time or overlap. You will need to select a different section.
  2. Linked course error: You have either failed to select both a lecture and a lab component or you did not register for the proper combination of lecture and lab.
  3. Prerequisite and Test Score error – click on the blue CRN number of the course you are trying to add and review the required prerequisites, have you completed those requirements with the minimum grade required? If you transferred to LU the system may be looking for test scores that are not a part of your academic record.
  4. Closed Section – this class has reached its max capacity, you need to go select a different day/time of the course.
  5. Reserved Closed – this class has seats reserved for a specific population of student
    • You will have to select a different day/time/instructor.
  6. Attribute Restriction – this class is likely an honors section of a course or restricted to a specific population of students for another reason.
    • If you are not one of these attributed groups, you will have to select a different day/time/instructor.
  7. Advisor – this class has a registration restriction that requires an additional step to qualify. The most common examples of this are the restricted section of public speaking (COMM 1315) and the online section of pathophysiology (NURS 2373).
    • A restricted section of public speaking is occasionally offered for students who suffer from communication apprehension.
      • Students must speak with their advisors to determine if they qualify for this section.
    • The online section of pathophysiology requires review and approval from the School of Nursing.
      • You can complete a request form explaining why you need to take courses with these types of registrations online. You can obtain that from your advising team, and once it is approved, you can register for the course’s online section. Without approval, you cannot enroll in the online section.
