Blended Advising – Publishing Outline

  • What is the topic of your article?
    • My article is about utilizing digital learning to expand the advising relationship.
  • Where do you plan to submit (consider 2-3 options)
    • NACADA, TEXAAN, TCEA
  • What is the connection to your innovation plan or initiative?
    • My innovation seeks to resolve the information access needed and sought by university students and families while acknowledging the human power limitations of advising ratios. The innovation of advising incorporates digital tools and collaboration to relieve advisors from information transfer by utilizing blended learning techniques and peer connections to replicate the ubiquitous demands of resources and information.
  • How can this information help others?
    • This information will help other advisors and advising units consider ways to deepen their advising relationships and support learners throughout their academic pursuits. Through collective conversations and collaboration, advisors can work together to further refine and improve the available tools and resources provided to students transitioning to college/university life and those matriculating through various stages of learning.
  • Lessons learned or hoped to learn?
    • The best advice to share is to be open and vulnerable through trial and error. Be willing to try new things and move on from things not working in the intended ways. Learning in this digitally connected world means we must continue trying new things to reach out to learners. Simply getting students onboarded and registered is not the ultimate goal of advisors. We strive to help our students thrive and adapt to a new world and a new understanding of themselves, their hopes, their dreams, and their path to an ever-evolving future.
  • What digital resources will be included in your article? Briefly describe.
    • Digital resources will include the Advisor That Cares ePortfolio, Advising 101 Google Classroom, and Self-assessment/reflection through online discussions and blogs.
  • Think of your audience, digital presence, and the message you hope to communicate.
